Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) has issued an urgent security advisory addressing a critical vulnerability, CVE-2025-37164, within its OneView Software. This high-severity flaw, which carries a maximum CVSS score of 10.0, could enable remote code execution by an unauthenticated attacker. The vulnerability impacts all versions of HPE OneView prior to version 11.00, making swift patching essential for enterprise security.

HPE OneView Security Vulnerability Urgently Addressed

HPE has explicitly stated in its advisory that an “unauthenticated user” could exploit this weakness.
The company has responded by releasing version 11.00 of OneView, which specifically addresses this vulnerability. For organizations still operating on earlier versions, HPE has also made available a hotfix. This patch can be applied to OneView versions ranging from 5.20 through 10.20, providing a crucial interim solution to bolster their enterprise security posture.
Hotfix Application and Considerations
While the hotfix offers immediate protection, HPE has outlined specific scenarios where it may need to be reapplied. Users upgrading from version 6.60 or later to version 7.00.00, or performing any HPE Synergy Composer reimaging operations, will need to reapply the hotfix to ensure continued security. Separate hotfixes have been provided for both the OneView virtual appliance and Synergy Composer2, acknowledging the distinct architecture of these components.
Although HPE has not reported any instances of CVE-2025-37164 being actively exploited in the wild, the critical nature of the vulnerability necessitates prompt action. Proactive patching is the cornerstone of effective cybersecurity, and IT administrators are strongly advised to implement the available updates as soon as possible to safeguard their environments.
This is not the first security concern HPE has addressed this year. In June, the company released updates to fix eight vulnerabilities in its StoreOnce data backup and deduplication solution, some of which could also lead to authentication bypass and remote code execution. Furthermore, OneView version 10.00 was released to patch several known flaws residing in third-party components, including Apache Tomcat and Apache HTTP Server, demonstrating HPE’s commitment to maintaining the security of its comprehensive product suite.
