King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) and Italian shipbuilding company Fincantieri have partnered to establish a new scholarship program focusing on next-generation security research. This collaboration aims to advance the development of innovative solutions in maritime security and cyber-resilience. The initiative is designed to train young researchers in critical areas of navigation technology.
The program, formally announced at KAUST on December 4, 2025, will provide funding for research into advanced techniques for authenticating Automatic Identification System (AIS) signals and detecting GPS spoofing.
